I am Wia, and my story is one of resilience, transformation, and creativity.
I grew up in the Hermitage district of Manchester, Jamaica, West Indies. Life wasn’t easy. My father passed away when I was just six years old, and I grew up in a single-room home with my mother, sister, and four brothers. Despite the hardships, our family bonds were strong, and the support of our community helped us get by.
When I was still a child, my life took a significant turn. I was adopted by my cousin, also named Roy, and raised by his brother Trevor and wife Jasmine Thomas. This new chapter of my life brought me to the United States around the age of twelve, where I began to build a new life and embrace new opportunities.
Through my experiences and my art, I’ve discovered a new way to connect with others and share my vision. My journey has taught me the power of resilience, the importance of embracing change, and the beauty of finding unexpected talents within ourselves. This is my story, and I continue to live it with hope and creativity, always looking forward to what comes next.
